An international jury has elected the winners of
the 2009 Young? Creative? Chevrolet! art contest. The award-winning
entries in Fashion, Photography, Visual Arts, Video, and Music were
chosen from a total of over 530 projects submitted to national contests
in 19 European countries.
Launched in 2007, the Young? Creative? Chevrolet! art contest supports
upcoming young talent, encouraging students to look at Chevrolet from
their own creative perspective. The contest has grown fast from the
original 32 art schools participating in 2007 to 120 in this year's
contest.
Cesare Prati, 2009 jury president and Chevrolet Europe Sales Director
said: "We were very impressed with the variety and quality of
the projects presented by the students this year. In every discipline
the jury had long, challenging debates before agreeing on the winners."
The criteria for the jury's decision were: creativity/innovation,
interpretation of the brand, artistic qualities, capacity to be used in
the brand communication.
The European jury met at the Libreria del Cinema -
a charming library in the trendy Trastevere district of central Rome.
The European judges come from various European countries (Croatia,
Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the U.K.) and have different
professional backgrounds and areas of expertise (see below for more
information on the jury members). They reviewed the winning projects
from each of the 19 participating European countries.
Jasmine Bertusi, 2009 jury member specialized in Photography, said: "The
projects show amazing commitment from all the students: a mix of fresh
creativity, hard work and inspiring interpretations of the brand."
Fabio Falleti, 2009 jury member specialized in Fashion, said:
"There was a great spirit and energy during the deliberation day. I was
happy to be part of this project organized by Chevrolet that supports
young designers and artists. The projects showed creativity and
professionalism, which meant we had a difficult but interesting task to
elect the winning projects."
Jens Lueg, 2009 jury member specialized in Visual Arts, said:
"This contest paved the way for fruitful collaborations with these
talented new artists. This year showed a great diversity of projects
with a wide variety of graphic styles."
