· New model has led its segment since launch in October 2006
· Almost ten million Corsas sold across Europe since model introduction in 1982

The 500,000th new Opel Corsa will be registered in December 2007. Since its sales start around 14 months ago, the model has been successfully positioned throughout Europe and continues to lead large markets such as Germany and the United Kingdom. Opel was able to increase Corsa registrations across Europe in the first 11 months of 2007 by around 50 percent compared to the same last-year period. This puts Opel’s successful model far ahead of other German competitors in the segment, who all had at least 45,000 fewer vehicle registrations than the Corsa.

Since the launch of the first Corsa 25 years ago, almost ten million units have been sold in Europe. The ten-millionth model will probably be produced toward the end of January 2008. The fourth Corsa generation was presented to the public in 2006 with a completely new dynamic and unmistakable design. As two separate model variants, the three and five-door models are full of clever innovations such as Flex-Fix – the intelligent, fully integrated rear bicycle carrier that disappears into the rear bumper. The new Corsa also boasts outstanding safety, receiving five stars for passenger protection in its first crash test by Euro NCAP in 2006.

At the IAA 2007, Opel presented the Corsa 1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX – the first vehicle in the new environmentally friendly ecoFLEX range. The Corsa ecoFLEX emits just 119 g CO2/km with an average fuel consumption of only 4.5 liters of diesel per 100 km.

Since its launch, the newest Corsa has received over 20 awards from automotive journalists and readers’ polls across Europe.

The awards include “Car of the Year” in Czech republic, Denmark, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Croatia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia, as well as the “Autobest 2007” trophy in Eastern and Central Europe.
