GM's Antwerp, Belgium, plant produced the 25,000th Astra TwinTop today, less than 10 months after start of production in March last year. The star-silver-colored car, equipped with the new 1.6 ECOTEC engine, will be exported to the United Kingdom.
The Astra TwinTop is exclusively built in Antwerp and – unlike at other manufacturers, where the production of such niche models allocated to a separate specialized facility – the production of this Astra convertible is fully integrated on the main assembly line on which the 5-door Astra, the Astra wagon and the Astra GTC – which is also exclusively manufactured in Antwerp - are produced as well.
GM's Belgian plant produced over 224,000 units of the third Astra generation last year, 96 percent of which were exported to about 50 countries around the world where the cars are sold under the Opel, Vauxhall, Chevrolet and Holden brand names. Later this year, the Antwerp plant will start production of three- and five-door models for the Saturn line-up to be sold in the United States and Canada.

That's a terrific beast. Any plans of launching such high end vehicles in the Indian market?
