Yesterday, the new Corsa was named "Car of the Year 2007" and "Best Supermini" by the renowned British consumer magazine “What Car?”. The Corsa beat 14 category winners to take the top honors.

Speaking at the exclusive award ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane, Vauxhall Managing Director Bill Parfitt said: “We’re delighted that the new Corsa has won this prestigious award. We know we’ve got this car just right in every regard, and this is backed up by record order banks, as well as a fabulous performance in showrooms and in the press.”

“It had to beat some incredibly able cars to take our "Best Supermini" award, let alone the overall "Car of the Year" crown,” said Steve Fowler, Group Editor of “What Car?”. “The Corsa is as good to drive as it is to look at. It’s the completeness of the Corsa package that we love – for supermini buyers, it ticks every single box. For us, it’s the best new car we’ve had the pleasure of testing over the past 12 months.”

The Corsa was also the best small car in ADAC reader’s choice award, “Gelber Engel 2007”, in Germany. Overall the Corsa ranked third out of a total of 46 candidates. "This result and the high customer demand show that the Corsa has the qualities to take the leadership in its segment," said GM Europe President Carl-Peter Forster.
