Chevrolet España and the Royal Spanish Soccer Federation, through its exclusive agent, Santa Mónica Sports, have reached an agreement through which the carmaker will be the principal sponsoring partner of the Spanish national soccer team, the reigning European champions, from September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2010. The agreement includes also the women's national team, the under-21 team (4-time European champions and 2-time world champions), as well as the remainder of the national teams in other categories. As the principal sponsoring partner, Chevrolet has the exclusive rights in the automotive sector, will be the national team's Official Car and enjoy other benefits such as the right to use the image of the team in its communication.

This new union clearly shows that the brand sees itself very closely related to the sport and the values it stands for (effort, team spirit, youth, emotion and reliability). These values perfectly match the philosophy of Chevrolet, who sees in this partnership an emotional link with the Spanish public and these values. The relationship between the brand and sports was already demonstrated with the signature of an agreement with the non-governmental organization, Plan, to support little-league soccer through the "Kids for Kids" initiative.

In addition, one of the basic pillars of Chevrolet’s strategy in Spain is to increase awareness of the brand, and the company believes that an agreement that allows to take advantage of the momentum of the national team after the success achieved in the 2008 European Championship is very positive.

Juan Manuel Lumbreras, Managing Director of Chevrolet Spain, said: "Chevrolet is the third-largest brand in the world with more than 4.5 million vehicles sold in 130 countries, but we have been present in Spain only for three years. It is very important for us to increase brand awareness in our country. We are a leading global brand and that’s why we want to do it together with leaders. A few weeks ago, we signed an agreement with the Spanish national basketball team, the reigning world champion, and now we get together with the European soccer champions. I am very happy about this agreement."

Angel María Villar, President of the Royal Spanish Soccer Federation, said: "We are very pleased with this agreement. Chevrolet is a growing brand as is the national team. During the next years we will grow together."
