Award for Successful Training Initiative at the Opel Plant in
Rüsselsheim
The Opel plant in Rüsselsheim has been recognized for its outstanding
employee training program with the "Training Initiative Award 2001".
During the most extensive training program in the history of Opel, every
plant employee got prepared for the new production system at the state-of-the-art
facility. The logistically complicated and strategically detailed training
program began in 1999, immediately after the decision to invest into a
new plant in Rüsselsheim was taken.
During the award ceremony in Berlin, Gerd Pieper, Chairman of the Educational
Committee of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, particularly
praised Opel's commitment to involve employees into establishing the new
production system and to make use of internal trainers.
The Award is granted by the German Otto-Wolff-Foundation to companies,
institutions or individuals who initiate outstanding internal training
programs and, thus, raise quality and attractiveness of internal training.
The Award is supported by the German "Industrie und Handelstag"
as well as by the renowned magazine "WirtschaftsWoche".
