Opel/Vauxhall Market Share picks up in July

In July, Opel/Vauxhall dealers sold 150,300 vehicles in Western/Central Europe. Sales were 5,900 units and 4,1% ahead of forecast. As a result, the Opel/Vauxhall market share of 9,65% was 0.48 percentage points higher versus July 2000. Following the July result, the Opel/Vauxhall year-to-date share grew to 9.56% and remains above the 9.45% recorded in the same period last year.

However, for the first seven months of the year, overall industry sales of 11,458,500 were 475,700 vehicles and 4% below the same period last year. The Opel/Vauxlall year-to-date sales volume of 1,095,318 has been 31,835 vehicles and 2,8% lower than in 2000. Whereas markets in Turkey, Poland and Italy were recording losses, ten markets were ahead of last July, particularly France and the UK as well as Spain, Switzerland, the Czech/Slovak Republic and South East Europe.
