GM Chile is now ISO14001 certified
GM Chile has become the first Chilean manufacturing company to
receive the ISO14001 certification. More than 85 percent of GM plants
in Latin America have received the ISO14001 certification. All GM facilities
are required to be environmentally responsible and to follow GM's
environmental principles. However, the ISO 14001 recognition certifies
that it is fully compliant with environmental standards and processes
observed around the globe.
Facilities like GM Chile have worked intensively over a period of several
months to surpass ISO14001 standards. The audit process for GM Chile entailed
a review of manufacturing processes, solid waste management, emissions
monitoring, and reduced water and energy consumption, among other items.
GM Chile, founded in 1969, has been the leader of automotive sales during
the past 18 consecutive years. The company manufactures N-series trucks
from their Isuzu alliance partner in Santiago as well as the Luv pick-up,
Luv wagon and the Luv SUV at its Arica plant.
