Opel España celebrates the production of its seven millionth vehicle, which rolled off the assembly line at the Zaragoza plant this week. The car, a red 3-door Corsa with a 1.2-liter 16V ECOTEC engine, is destined for a customer in the United Kingdom.

With this historic milestone, Opel España looks back at more than 19 years of successful production at the Zaragoza plant. In August 1982, the first car to be produced at the plant was the Corsa A. Opel España now assembles the third-generation Corsa, and last year announced the future production of a new model for 2003.

Opel España, one of the major employers in the region of Aragón, exports the Corsa to over 70 countries worldwide. The plant sets high standards in terms of quality and productivity, and the success of the Corsa has made Opel España one of the principal exporters in the Spanish market.

The Opel Corsa is General Motors' most global car, manufactured in 11 plants on five continents. Worldwide, over ten and a half million Corsa-based vehicles have been produced to-date. The Corsa continues to be extremely popular with consumers. In Germany, Europe's largest market, the Corsa was first in its segment in 2001, making it the best-selling small car in Germany for the eighth time in succession since 1994. The Corsa combines fun and economical driving, and offers excellent environmental compatibility and safety features. This February, the Opel Corsa was rated as the safest small car in a series of crash tests conducted cooperatively by the Austrian ÖAMTC, the German ADAC and other European automobile clubs.
