Opel/Vauxhall breaks new ground with the Signum – a business class model

Opel/Vauxhall is breaking new ground as it continues to extend its new Vectra model series. Making its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2003 and arriving at showrooms shortly thereafter, the Signum breaks through conventional segment barriers and opens an entirely new market.

The Signum is the Business Class model – a unique car, tailor-made for demanding drivers who expect a lot in terms of dynamics, design, quality and presence, and who want to express their individual personalities and lifestyles.

Main features at a glance:
- Elegant top version of the new Vectra range offers first class comfort
- Longer wheelbase makes for a spacious interior and exceptional flexibility
- Three new powerful ECOTEC engines for superior driving dynamics
- Adaptive headlamp system sees around corners for even more safety

The Signum is a combination of stylish appearance, excellent driving dynamics and individual passenger comfort. Passengers, who wish to work – or play a game – in the rear, will welcome the innovative "Travel Assistant". The Travel Assistant is mounted between the two outer rear seats and conceals two foldout trays, a cooler, a refuse container, cup-holders, an electric power outlet, and a holder for a portable DVD player, as well as separate rear-seat controls for the audio system. The Signum also has a roof-mounted console, which includes reading lamps for rear passengers, with five compartments that provide a lot more storage space while at the same time giving the interior a new, distinctive appearance.

Carl-Peter Forster Opel's Chairman and Managing Director points out that this third member of the Vectra family will play an important strategic role: "The Signum, like our new Meriva compact van, is a fine example of the pioneering spirit. In future, up to 40 percent of the Opel models will, be based on innovative vehicle concepts that break down barriers between conventional segments or define new ones. With the Signum, as the name implies, we are sending out a powerful signal to the automobile world."
