Frontera Barbour premiers in Paris

Opel presents the new top-of-the-line "Barbour" version of its Frontera off-road model for the first time at the Paris Motor Show.

Following the success of the Frontera Olympus model, which includes an Olympus "IS 300" mirror reflex camera, Opel is launching the Frontera Barbour. The Frontera Barbour, a result of cooperation with a leading manufacturer of British country lifestyle, J. Barbour & Sons Ltd., and is a versatile off-road model particularly suited to people with an active lifestyle.

The exclusive interior in this new top-of-the-line Frontera is designed like Barbour country lifestyle clothing with its choice of colors and details. The typical Barbour buttons, for instance, adorn the rear of the front seats and the cashmere beige leather covers on the front seats carry this stately British company's logo.

The carpets, floor mats and seat belts are also light beige, while the center console is champagne-colored. The exterior features matching bumpers and side protection moldings and special 16-inch Rembrandt silver aluminum wheels. The cross member in the cooler grill also matches the car color.

The Barbour model is available with all Frontera engines (2.2 ECOTEC, 2.2 DTI ECOTEC and 3.2 V6) and also as a four-door or two-door model (Sport Barbour). For off-road excursions, the shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive system, - which can be activated at speeds of up to 100 km/h – and the off-road gear reduction make the elegant Opel Frontera fully off-road compatible.

Like the Frontera Avenue, the "Barbour" has no spare tire at the rear. This feature improves maneuverability and makes parking easier, especially in the city, thanks to better visibility to the rear and the shorter vehicle length.

Opel offers the Frontera Barbour in four exterior colors – Midnight Black, Nocturno Blue, Rubens Red and Ural Green and is currently available in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal. It will be available on the German market at the start of 2003.
