GM opens Central and East-European Regional Office
in Hungary
GME announced the opening of its Central and East-European
Regional Office in Hungary earlier this week.
Chris Lacey, Executive Director of General Motors Europe responsible for
North, Central and Eastern Europe, officially announced the opening of
a regional office in Budapest. Lacey spoke at a media event attended by
the Hungarian Minister of Economy and Transportation, Mr. István
Csillag.
The new Regional Office will either manage GM business in 15 countries
directly or provide a coordination role. Chris Lacey said, "The establishment
of the Central and Eastern European Regional Office allows us to leverage
synergies and improve efficiencies within the region. One of our key goals
is to further improve on vehicle and parts distribution systems which
will provide definite advantages to our customers and dealers alike by
better availability and faster delivery."
During the corporate media event, Lacey also announced the formation of
GM Daewoo Central and Eastern Europe responsible for import and sales
of all Daewoo vehicles built by GM Daewoo.
GM Daewoo Central and Eastern Europe will begin commercial activities
initially in Hungary followed by other countries in the region early next
year. Lacey emphasized, "It is our top priority to ensure that current
customers are looked after and informed of all changes related to the
transition to a new GM Daewoo company. We intend to grow the business
in Central and Eastern Europe where the brand has been successful in the
past several years."
Lacey added, "The fact that Hungary now becomes the Central and East
European regional headquarter for both GM and GM Daewoo underlines the
trust and confidence GM has in Hungary as a business location."
