On November 15, 2002, GM / Opel held a forum for future technologies at
Opel Live in Rüsselsheim. The one-day supplier exhibition, TechWorld,
was designed to support the introduction of new technologies and innovations
into GM products and processes.
The event was targeted at representatives from GME Purchasing, Engineering
and Marketing. Displays and presentations from key suppliers in the automotive
industry participated in discussions on future technological developments
and concepts.
TechWorld is designed to enhance communication between GME / Opel and
supplier technology stakeholders. Together, they review features, processes,
industry trends and concepts currently in development. Among the participants
are BASF AG, Denso Corporation and Edscha AG.
Displays and presentations featured new HVAC systems, adjustable pedal
boxes, navigation systems, and convertible roof systems
"TechWorld continues to be one of the most effective ways to strengthen
relationships with strategic suppliers and integrate innovation within
GM. While suppliers showcased their innovations, GM informed suppliers
of our technology implementation process and encouraged them to submit
their ideas." states Robert E. Socia, Chairman GM-FIAT Worldwide
Purchasing.
