Saab 9-3 Sports Sedan receives maximum five stars in Euro NCAP's collision test

The new Saab 9-3 Sports Sedan has been awarded the maximum five star rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP collision tests, the most prestigious in Europe.

Euro NCAP, the European New Car Assessment Program, was established in 1997 and is backed by five European governments, the European Commission and motoring and consumer organizations in every EU country. Euro NCAP provides motoring consumers with a realistic and independent assessment of safety performance for some of the most popular cars sold in Europe.

Euro NCAP encourages significant safety improvements to new car design and conducted three rigorous tests for frontal and side impact on the Saab9-5. Test results were evaluated according to a large number of parameters relating to driver and passenger safety.

"These excellent results are very gratifying. Euro NCAP is an independent organization whose evaluations contain accessible and objective information for car consumers," says Per Lenhoff, Head of Crash Safety Development at Saab Automobile.

Saab's goal is to develop cars with the best possible safety record and has a testing program comprising more than 75 different test configurations that serve as a basis for improvements in construction and safety solutions.
