Detroit News names HUMMER H2 "Truck of the Year"
After test-driving more than 150 new cars and trucks in 2002, The Detroit News named GM's HUMMER H2, the top North American Truck of the Year honor.
After test-driving more than 150 new cars and trucks in 2002, The Detroit News auto writers Paul and Anita Lienert compiled a list of "Top 10 Cars and Trucks" including Truck of the Year and Car of the Year.
GM's HUMMER H2, took the top North American Truck of the Year honor, while the Honda Civic Hybrid was named Car of the Year. "The H2 is a military-inspired spinoff of the US$100,000 H1 with a price tag slashed by half," the Lienerts write. "GM President Gary Cowger reports that the H2 is so popular that 'we have a 10-day supply, which means we're selling them off the back of the truck.'"
Also included on the Lienert's top 10 lists was the Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix. The writers praised the vehicle's versatility and stylishness.
