GM to expand XM Satellite Radio to 44 models in 2004

Accelerating one of the fastest-ever technology rollouts in its history, GM announces it will offer XM Satellite Radio on 44 of 57 GM models.

GM announced it will offer XM Satellite Radio on 44 of 57 GM models, representing more than three-quarters of GM's fleet. The automaker was the first to offer XM as a factory-installed option on 2002 Cadillac DeVilles and Sevilles in November 2001. GM later expanded that offering to 25 car, truck and SUV models.

At the start of the 2004 model year, XM will be available on several GM vehicles debuting this month at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The vehicles include the Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx, Colorado and GMC Canyon mid-size pick-ups.

XM will also be available on GM's popular high-volume SUVs including the Chevy Trailblazer, GMC Envoy and the new Buick Rainier.

XM Satellite Radio provides 101 coast-to-coast, digital-quality channels of music and talk, from 1940s standards to the latest in hip-hop, and from comedy to CNN.
