Hy-wire awarded 'Car of the Future' in Belgium

GM's Hy-wire has been awarded this year's annual 'Car of the Future' trophy by the Belgian Association of Professional Auto journalists.

GM's Hy-wire has been awarded this year's annual 'Car of the Future' trophy by the Belgian Association of Professional Auto journalists. The trophy is awarded to the vehicle considered the most innovative, the most spectacular, the most original or the most practicable for customers.

The jury, consisting of professional auto journalists, selected five nominees from 27 entries to participate in the final stage of the contest. Readers were then invited to vote. This year, the five nominees were: Citroën C3 Pluriel concept car, the 'PRE-SAFE'-system from Mercedes-Benz, the Design Renault, Renault's crash-test results, and GM's Hy-wire.

"The combination of fuel cell and by-wire technologies and the thin revolutionary chassis which easily allows the attachment of different body-styles, confirm that the auto has been re-invented. Moreover, journalists have had the opportunity to drive this revolutionary vehicle which is very exceptional for such advanced concept cars", stated the jury in their conclusions.
