Three Opel world premieres at the Geneva Motor Show 2003
Opel to premiere Signum, Speedster Turbo and GTC Genève Study at 73rd Geneva International Motor Show.
Opel is forging ahead with its model offensive while sending a clear message with three world premieres and many additional product innovations at this year's Geneva Motor Show (March 6 to March 16, 2003).
The main attraction at the Opel stand is the international debut of the Signum. The Signum with its long wheelbase and stretched body-style combines an elegant exterior with impressive driving dynamics, maximum interior flexibility and high individual passenger comfort.
The new Speedster Turbo represents dynamics and driving pleasure in its purest form. With acceleration from zero to 100 in a mere 4.9 seconds and a top speed exceeding 240 km/h, its 147 kW (200 hp) 2.0-liter ECOTEC turbo engine makes this mid-engine roadster a thrilling experience for driving enthusiasts.
The Opel GTC Genève exhibits the dynamics of the Opel design language while providing a preview for future production models. The Study, a three-door sport sedan (length/width/height: 4,349/1,773/1,352 mm), is characterized by a low silhouette, curved roof and tapered front and rear body sections. The GTC Genève - GTC stands for Gran Turismo Compact - has a tinted, transparent roof that stretches from the windshield to the rear window and can comfortably accommodate four passengers.
The Vectra GTS Turbo premiere is of twofold significance. A newly developed 2.0 Turbo ECOTEC engine (129 kW/175 PS), coupled with a new six-speed manual gearbox, provides the powertrain for this new sports sedan. The new engine will be available in all members of the Opel Vectra family - including the new Signum - during the course of the year.
With the Swiss premiere of the Meriva, Opel continues its introduction of a new dimension in the compact class. Like its big brother the Zafira, the Meriva sets a new benchmark in interior versatility. Its innovative FlexSpace concept allows a wide choice of freedom in configuring the Meriva's interior quickly and without removing any seats.
