Opel Zafira Wins "Autonis" Design Prize

German car magazine readers select Zafira as best-looking van in the compact class.

More than 46,000 readers of the car magazines "AUTOStrassenverkehr" and "mot" have cast their votes. Not only is the Opel Zafira Germany's most successful and versatile compact class van, it's also the best looking.

For the fourth time in a row this trendsetting van has been chosen by a wide margin, 40.8 percent, as the "Best Looking Automobile in Germany" in the category "Compact Vans".

Opel Executive Design Director Martin Smith received the Autonis award yesterday from Sir Peter Ustinov during a ceremony in Berlin, in which Opel Management Board members Klaudia Martini and Dr. Uhland Burkart also took part.

The Opel Zafira is the only vehicle in its class that comes with seven full-sized seats as standard equipment which can be converted, without removing and storing any seats, from a comfortable seven-seater to a two-seat, large-capacity transporter with a cargo area comprising a volume of up to 1700 liters.

The broad selection of Opel compact van model variants is also unique – ranging from the very economical and environmentally compatible Zafira 1.6 CNG to the 147 kW (200 hp) Zafira OPC, the fastest van in Europe.
