Opel upgrades product portfolio with new models and engines

Opel upgrades product portfolio with new versions of proven model series and a broad fuel-efficiency offensive based on ECOTEC gasoline and diesel engines.

New editions of the Opel Agila and Corsa will be launched during the second half of the year. Both models are now more mature and more attractive than ever. This has been achieved with modified front and rear designs, improved equipment and new engines. Two newly developed TWINPORT gasoline engines with 1.0 and 1.4 liter displacements (44 kW/60 hp und 66 kW/90 hp), along with the new 1.3 CDTI and 1.7 CDTI ECOTEC turbo diesels with 51 kW/70 hp and 74 kW/100 hp, respectively, offering significant fuel consumption advantages, are now available in the Corsa.

The 1.7 CDTI will be available in the Meriva mini-van; the 1.0 TWINPORT ECOTEC and the 1.3 CDTI ECOTEC will also be available in the Agila new edition. The world's smallest four-cylinder common rail diesel engine has already demonstrated its potential in the Opel ECO-Speedster. Equipped with a 112 hp version of the 1.3 CDTI motor, this study car set a total of 17 new international records (pending certification by the FIA) at the end of July.

The new Opel Vectra station wagon, which will celebrate its debut at the International Automobile Show in Frankfurt features the largest storage area in its class and a flexible load area concept.

The 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine with 130 kW (177 hp) and maximum torque of 370 Nm, which has already drawn attention with its commanding acceleration and efficiency in the Signum, is now available in the Vectra GTS and Vectra sedan. In addition, the Vectra model family has been further refined with new, innovative special equipment. As an option, starting in the fall, the innovative AFL (Adaptive Forward Lighting) Bi-Xenon headlamps and an 18-position climate controlled MultiContour driver's seat with the AGR (Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.) seal of approval will be orderable for all model variants.

Opel has also expanded the engine options for the popular Zafira Design Edition. In addition to the 2.2 DTI ECOTEC engine, this dynamically styled compact van model can now also be ordered with the 2.0 DTI, the 1.8 or the 2.2 liter ECOTEC gasoline engines. The exclusive "Daytona" and "Silverstone" equipment lines/packages for the Astra Coupé and Astra Cabrio also stand out with their numerous sporty details. The family and leisure oriented Combo Tour, much like the Corsa, has also returned to the scene with a distinctive design.

Attractive equipment packages, new options and a large selection of premium quality alloy wheels in 16- to 18-inch formats for the entire Opel model range provide yet another opportunity for vehicle personalization.
