Robert A. Lutz joins Adam Opel AG Supervisory Board
Newly-elected Opel Supervisory Board holds its first meeting. Hans Barth has been re-elected Supervisory Board Chairman.
Adam Opel AG's newly-elected Supervisory Board today had its first meeting in the new composition. Seventeen of the twenty members had been re-elected, led by Supervisory Board Chairman Hans Barth and deputy Chairman Klaus Franz.
Robert A. (Bob) Lutz, General Motors Vice Chairman, Product Development, and Chairman, GM North America, joined Opel's Supervisory Board as a new member. He replaces Gary L. Cowger, President of GM North America and former Adam Opel AG Chairman and Managing Director, who chose to not stand for nomination for another term so that he can more fully focus on his responsibilities in North America.
Also newly elected were Günter Michels and Dirk Bresser. Michels is a former CEO and currently the Supervisory Board Chairman of the German Oil company Aral AG. Bresser is a representative of the labor side. Retired from the Supervisory Board are Prof. Dr. Hartmut Kreikebaum, who holds a chair for International Management at the European Business School in Germany, as well as Lothar Marquardt, a labor representative.
"I'd like to express my gratitude to the members who are leaving the Supervisory Board for all their contributions over the past several years. I'm looking forward to working with the newly elected committee. Bob Lutz's return to Opel is especially exciting as he is not only a great product person, but also a globally experienced business man," said Hans Barth.
