60th International Motor Show in Frankfurt

The 60th International Motor Show in Frankfurt features world premieres of the new Astra and Vectra Station Wagon and the debut of Corsa and Agila new editions.

The new Opel Astra will be one of the top attractions at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt (September 11 - 21, 2003), where it celebrates its world premiere.

With progressive, dynamic design and innovative technology, the new Astra is set to become one of the stars of the compact class. Opel will present the five-door version scheduled to go on sale spring 2004. The second Opel world premiere in Frankfurt is the new Vectra station wagon, which will complete the Vectra range in November. The elegantly designed station wagon, thanks to its long wheelbase (2.83 meters), has the largest cargo volume in its class (up to 1850 liters) while simultaneously offering lots of space for passengers. In addition it features innovative, practical ideas such as the Flex Organizer system for the cargo compartment.

Other premieres on the Opel stand in Hall 8 (D09) include a new maintenance-free Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) system, which works without additives. Also debuting at the Frankfurt Motor Show is a brand new 1.9-liter common rail turbo-diesel engine which, coupled with the state-of-the-art DPF system, will be available next year for the Signum and the new Astra. The powerful 1.9 CDTI ECOTEC with 110 kW (150 hp) develops maximum torque of 315 Newton meters.

Thanks to its modern multi-injection system it features low fuel consumption and high refinement. The new editions of Opel Agila and Corsa, with their fresh designs and a new range of TWINPORT engines or the newly developed 51 kW

(70 hp) 1.3 CDTI diesel, will also be making their first public appearances. The world's smallest four-cylinder common rail diesel, the 1.3 CDTI already demonstrated its potential in July when the Opel ECO Speedster concept car, using a more powerful 112 hp version, set 17 new international records (subject to FIA-certification).

In addition to the new 1.3 CDTI and in line with Opel's ongoing diesel offensive, the new 1.7-liter common rail diesel with 74 kW (100 hp) and 240 Newton meters extends the Opel diesel offer. The 3.0-liter V6 common rail turbodiesel with 130 kW (177 hp) and maximum torque of 370 Newton meters, first presented in the Opel Signum, is now also available for the Vectra sedan and in the Vectra GTS.

The popular Zafira Design Edition, which is now being offered with the1.8 or 2.2-liter gasoline engines and the 2.0-liter turbodiesel, in addition to the 2.2 DTI ECOTEC will also be on display. Starting this fall, all Vectra variants can be equipped with AFL (Adaptive Forward Lighting) Bi-Xenon headlights and a climate-controlled MultiContour driver's seat. With many sporty details, the "Daytona" and "Silverstone" packages for the Astra coupé and the Astra Cabrio make these models even more attractive. Also on display on the 4000 square meters Opel stand in Frankfurt are the new "Tour" version of the Vivaro and the family and leisure oriented Combo Tour, which has acquired a more distinctive look from the new Corsa design. In addition to attractive equipment packages, new options and a variety of 16- to 18- inch aluminum wheels provide more opportunities for customers to individualize their Opel.
