IAA Update: Opel unveils Vectra Station Wagon in Frankfurt

Opel unveils the new Vectra Station Wagon to complete the Vectra range.

The new Opel Vectra station wagon, which completes the Vectra range and will reach the market in November, was unveiled this week at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.

With its long wheelbase (2.83 meters), it has the largest cargo volume in its class (530 to 1850 liters) while simultaneously offering lots of space for passengers. The seat back of the rear bank is equipped with an integrated load-through facility and folds down in a 60:40 ratio.

Foldaway trailer hitch: simple handling and unimpaired optics
A practical highlight of the new Opel Vectra station wagon is the optionally available foldaway trailer hitch. When the trailer coupling is not in use it can be easily folded away underneath the bumper so that it doesn't disturb the car's rear optics or get in the way when parking the vehicle.

The latch is located in the side of the cargo compartment. When the hitch is locked in place a visual and acoustic signal is given for safety reasons. A power outlet for a trailer is integrated into the hitch system. With the foldaway trailer hitch and a maximum trailer weight of 1800 kg (12 percent upward gradient) the Vectra station wagon is the perfect towing vehicle for both business and pleasure.

Remote controlled tailgate: comfortable opening and closing at the push of a button
An additional optional, available in January 2004 is a remote controlled tailgate. A push of a button located on the car key activates the electric drive or stops the tailgate at any position holding it up at any desired elevation. Alternatively the driver can open or close the tailgate automatically via a switch inside the cabin or with a key from the inside of the tailgate. A motion sensor protects against accidents. In order to make loading or unloading bulky objects easier the Vectra station wagon's tailgate opens to a very wide angle. The maximum standing height under the open tailgate is a generous 1.9 meters.

Engine range
The range of engines available with the Opel Vectra station wagon includes four gasoline and three turbo diesel units from the ECOTEC family with a power spectrum from 100 to 211 hp.
