Nubira goes home to Pininfarina
A silver Daewoo Nubira CDX designed at Pininfarina will now be displayed at the company's showroom alongside automotive design icons from several decades.
At a ceremony at Pininfarina headquarters in Cambiano (near Turin) Erhard L. (Hardy) Spranger, Executive in Charge of GM Daewoo Europe presented a silver Daewoo Nubira CDX to Andrea Pininfarina. The elegant four-door sedan was designed at Pininfarina and will be displayed at the company's showroom alongside automotive design icons from several decades.
"We are proud to know that our Nubira has found a home alongside so many legendary automobiles," said Spranger. "Media and public reactions to our new car underline what an important role design plays in the overall impression an automobile makes."
Cooperation with famous Italian designers has become a Daewoo trademark. After the Tacuma, which entered the market in 2000, the 2003 Nubira is the second Daewoo designed by the specialists at Pininfarina in Turin. "We have always believed in simplicity and the power of proportion," says Andrea Pininfarina. "So what we tried to achieve with the Nubira was a very simple and clear shape but with a dynamic and modern treatment. Thanks to the pronounced wedge-shape and sharp shoulder line, the car looks like it's moving even when it is standing still. Another element that gives the car its dynamic stance is the very prominent treatment of the wheel arches."
