New Vectra Station Wagon: Elegant, Comfortable and Spacious

Opel/Vauxhall brings the fourth independently styled model of the third generation Vectra to market, following the classic Vectra sedan, the sporty Vectra GTS and the innovative Signum.

The Vectra model range is complete! With the new Vectra station wagon, Opel/Vauxhall is now bringing the fourth independently styled model of the third generation Vectra to the market, following the classic Vectra sedan, the sporty Vectra GTS and the innovative Signum.

The Vectra station wagon brings the station wagon up to date with its elegant design, class leading cargo volume, wide range of engines, agile handling, and state-of-the-art safety equipment as well as with intelligent features such as luggage management-system, a remote-controlled power tailgate or a fold-away trailer hitch.

Thanks to its 2.83-meter wheelbase, the Vectra station wagon offers not only a lot of space for the driver and passengers, but also features the largest cargo area in its class (530 to 1850 liters). The maximum load length up to the front seats reaches more than two meters (2046 mm), and when the front passenger seat is folded down the maximum load length is 2.87m.

The Vectra station wagon features FlexOrganizer for versatile, secure and orderly cargo storage. When it comes to driving comfort and agility, the Vectra station wagon benefits from its long wheelbase and from its further developed Interactive Driving System (IDS). This system has set new benchmarks for road holding, handling and driving control in the Vectra sedan, which won the 2002 Golden Steering Wheel award, in the Vectra GTS and the Signum. The latest generation ESPPlus electronic stability program which, as a component of the IDS system, is also standard equipment

The Vectra station wagon will be powered initially by a choice of four gasoline and three turbo-diesel engines with 100 to 211 horsepower, including three newly developed units. The 3.0 V6 CDTI ECOTEC turbo-diesel features the latest generation common rail direct injection. The all-aluminum six-cylinder engine with 3.0 liters displacement delivers 130 kW (177 hp) and maximum torque of 370 Newton meters. Acceleration and refinement are two of the key strengths of the new 2.0 turbo ECOTEC gasoline engine that generates maximum torque of 265 Newton meters. This turbo-charged four-cylinder, based on the proven 2.2 ECOTEC aluminum engine, delivers 129 kW (175 hp). The third newcomer, another descendant of the light alloy generation of engines, the 2.2 DIRECT ECOTEC is the first direct-injection gasoline engine from Opel/Vauxhall. This 114 kW (155 hp) unit needs about six percent less fuel than a comparable engine with conventional, inlet manifold injection, yet it generates 10 percent more torque at lower rpm and six percent more power.

In Spring 2004 a newly developed 1.9 CDTI ECOTEC with 110 kW (150 hp) will also be available with the Vectra station wagon. This diesel engine will be the first from Opel to be equipped with a maintenance-free Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), which requires no additives and avoids the disadvantages of other existing systems. The Vectra station wagon 1.9 CDTI with DPF system as standard equipment complies with the Euro 4 emissions standard.

The new 1.9 CDTI ECOTEC, the 3.0 V6 CDTI ECOTEC top-of-the-line diesel engine and the 2.0 liter turbo ECOTEC gasoline unit are coupled with a new six-speed manual transmission. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard with the 2.2 DIRECT ECOTEC engine. As an alternative, an adaptive five-speed automatic transmission is also available with various engines. The 1.8 ECOTEC engine with 90 kW (122 hp) can also be combined with the optional CVTronic (CVT = Continuously Variable Transmission).

Optional swiveling bi-xenon Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL) headlights are another of the many technical innovations and premium equipment options available with the Vectra station wagon.
