Lutz awarded prestigious Golden Steering Wheel award
Bild am Sonntag awarded this year's "Golden Steering Wheel" to GM's Bob Lutz this past weekend in Berlin.
In honoring his prominent achievements in the automobile industry, GM's Bob Lutz was awarded the prestigious Gold Steering Wheel award.
The American born in Switzerland began his 40-year-old professional career in 1963 at General Motors. In 1964 he became a member of the board of directors at Adam Opel AG in charge for Sales. In 1970 he moved to BMW and in 1974 to Ford where he became chairman of Ford Europe. From 1986 to 1998 the "automan" worked for Chrysler where he moved to up to become the deputy chairman of the board and carried responsibility for the worldwide passenger car and commercial motor vehicles business.
In November 2001 Lutz returned after an excursion as a chairman of the board of Exide Technologies to his automobile roots and took over his current executive position at General Motors. In August 2003 was elected a member of the supervisory board of the Adam Opel AG.
In accepting the award honoring his contributions to the automobile industry, Lutz said: "This award is challenges me to help provide new and creative solutions for the automobile industry."
