Preliminary Sales Results in October 2003
Versus October last year, all brands showed increases and overall at 10.06%, market share was 0.52 point higher. Daewoo's share for the month of 0.92% was the highest recorded since December 2000 with strong performances in most markets.
Overall industry closes 2.2% above forecast
In Western/Central Europe, the overall industry sales in October of 1,503,900 closed 31,838 and 2.2% above forecast. The main overruns were in Italy, Spain and Turkey while the Netherlands, France, Portugal and South East Europe were down. Versus October last year, industry sales closed 13,283 and 0.9% higher.
Through October, industry sales of 15,153,749 are now just 13,922 lower versus the same period of 2002, with losses in Western Europe of 234,797 (down 1.7%) almost offset by a gain of 220,875 (+21.9%) in the Central European markets. Of the big five markets, the UK and Spain show gains versus last year while Germany, Italy and France are down.
