Vauxhall Green Apple Tree Grows and Grows!

Vauxhall has been awarded two more Green Apple awards for "commendable environmental practice" at its Ellesmere Port plant.

This is the sixth award won by Vauxhall Motors from six submissions over four years.

The Green Organization, a group dedicated to recognizing, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice, leads the annual campaign and has the support of the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and the Chartered Institution of Waste Management.

Vauxhall received the national runner-up prize for its efforts in commerce and industry for the initiatives in the plant's powerhouse and for the inventive electrical energy savings made throughout the plant. The plant was also the gold winner for energy management and efficiency for its V6 engine plant and paint unit recycling and re-use program.

Ellesmere Port environmental coordinator, John Dodson said: "To represent Vauxhall for the fourth year, was an honor. The awards recognize the dedication of everyone at Ellesmere Port who undoubtedly has pride in environmental affairs at the plant. The important aspect is that these awards are not for big, one-off projects, but for regular, day-to-day improvements as part of our continual improvement program."
