Royal Liver switches to Vauxhall in £12m deal

Royal Liver, the Liverpool-based assurance society has swapped a triple badge deal with three manufacturers for a Vauxhall sole-badge contract worth around £12 million at showroom prices.

Hot on the heels of taking the title of number one fleet manufacturer, Vauxhall has started 2004 in top gear. Royal Liver, the Liverpool-based assurance society has swapped a triple badge deal with three manufacturers for a Vauxhall sole-badge contract worth around £12 million at showroom prices.

Royal Liver has an 800-strong fleet of cars and was previously supplied by Toyota, Nissan and Rover. However, following a competitive tender process that involved nine motor manufacturers, the friendly society opted for the supply of Vauxhall cars.

Royal Liver's UK direct retail operations director Colin Nugent said one factor in the decision was that Vauxhall produced cars at Ellesmere Port nearby "and we wanted to work together and support a local employer if possible".

Royal Liver will operate around 350 Astras and 400 Vectras and will also consider taking a number of Saab models.
