Opel in motorsport 2004: Roll-out for Opel Vectra GTS V8

At the test track of Colmar in France, Opel's motorsport manager Volker Strycek shook down the new Opel Vectra GTS V8 on Monday. The car will be racing this season in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen-Masters).

In sunny, but cold conditions, Strycek completed a total of 55 laps. "A roll-out of a new race car is always an exciting affair", the motorsport manager commented. "Although the data acquired in such a test are only of limited use, you get at least a feel of the car, which in this case is very good."

Strycek mainly praised the driveability of the Opel as well as the response of the 476 hp strong V8-engine. "The development and technical department of the Opel Performance Center really have done a tremendous job in the past few weeks", Strycek said. Opel's test driver Marcel Tiemann also sat behind the wheel during the roll-out at Colmar.

An extensive test programme with the Opel Vectra GTS V8 will be carried out in the next few weeks. The opening round of the DTM-season takes place at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, April 18.
