Bo Andersson named Chairman GM-FIAT Worldwide Purchasing

The Board of Directors of GM-FIAT Worldwide Purchasing ("GFWWP") has named Bo Andersson (48) Chairman of GFWWP, effective March 12, 2004. In this role, he succeeds Robert E. Socia who was named Managing Director, GM South Africa in January 2004.

In addition to this new responsibility, Andersson will continue in his current capacity as Vice President, General Motors Worldwide Purchasing, Production Control and Logistics, which he assumed in 2001, overseeing GM's global purchasing operations and Order-to-Delivery initiatives. In this capacity, he continues as a member of the GM Automotive Strategy Board.

GM-FIAT Worldwide Purchasing is the 50/50 joint venture between GM and Fiat Auto established in 2001. It combines all former purchasing activities of GM and Fiat Auto in both Europe and Latin America.

Bo Andersson began his career with GM in 1987, holding a variety of leadership positions through 1990 when he was appointed as Vice President of Purchasing for Saab. In 1993, he was appointed as Executive Director of the Worldwide Purchasing where he held four senior management assignments before being promoted to Vice President of Purchasing for General Motors Europe in March 1997. In 1999, he returned to the US as the Executive in-Charge for Worldwide Purchasing.
