Corsa climbs to the top as CVs set an all time record in UK

In the UK a record 466,955 new cars were sold in March. Additionally, there was good news for all three GM UK brands.

In the UK a record 466,955 new cars were sold in March. Additionally, there was good news for all three GM UK brands. Corsa once again topped the sales charts, for the second time in six months.

Vauxhall's other top 10 seller was the Astra, which came in sixth in the penultimate month before the launch of new Astra. Overall Vauxhall broke its own record for March with 57,979 units or 12.4% share with the Corsa and Zafira lead their segments. Broken down between fleet and retail sales, the company reclaimed first place in the fleet market with registrations up to a March record at 36,659 and finished third in retail with 7.1% share (21,320 sales).

Commercial Vehicles broke their single month sales record by selling 7,929 vans. Vivaro was the third best selling van overall behind Transit medium and heavy variants. Vauxhall took the top spot for the retail van market with 13% market share.

Saab sales continued to improve, up to 3,112 and retaining 0.7% market share. Importantly, Saab continued to make progress in the Premium Seven market – up from 5.9% to 6.6%.

Daewoo sales jumped from 1,451 to 3,009, doubling market share to 0.6%.
