New GM Daewoo organization established in Portugal
GM Daewoo Portugal was established on April 1st. The new company handles
import and distribution of Daewoo products for the Portuguese market.
GM Daewoo Portugal is a fully owned subsidiary of GM Daewoo Auto & Technology
Company (GM DAT) and is partly integrated into Opel Portugal, which will
soon change its name to General Motors Portugal.
Celso Laires who was Sales Manager at Opel Portugal, is now heading GM
Daewoo Portugal. William Mott and Vítor Carvalho are responsible
for marketing and sales at GM Daewoo Portugal.
The new GM organization will provide services to both brands in the
area of distribution, aftersales and communications, among others. Marketing
and sales will remain separate for Opel and Daewoo. Mark Gonçalves
will remain Managing Director of General Motors Portugal. With the integration
Herman De Backer will be responsible for marketing, sales and aftersales
for both brands.
GM Daewoo Portugal has a network of 33 distributors and authorized repairers.
In this first phase, the company will focus on the development of the
sales organization in order to grow sales. This year, Portugal will launch
several new Daewoo models, starting with the new Lacetti 5-door in June,
followed by the Nubira Station Wagon, in the autumn.
