Daewoo L6 Magnus wins Korea's 2004 Technology Frontier Award
The Daewoo L6 Magnus manufactured by GM Daewoo Auto & Technology
(GM Daewoo) won the prestigious Korean 2004 Technology Frontier Award.
The midsize sedan received the top prize in the large enterprise category.
The Technology Frontier Award was created by the Korean Standard Association
to encourage improvements in quality and the development of world-class
products by Korean companies. Winners are selected on the basis of their
innovation, their contribution to the improvement in their companies' value
and their demonstration of excellence of products made in Korea.
" GM Daewoo is proud of our latest accolade. The L6 Magnus has
raised the bar for performance and quality among vehicles in its segment," said
Nick Reilly, President & CEO of GM Daewoo. "It demonstrates
that products built by GM Daewoo in Korea are equal to those built by
any automaker anywhere in the world."
The L6 Magnus was cited for its exceptionally quiet ride and segment-leading
engine performance. The automobile's innovative in-line six-cylinder
(L6) engine produces 50 percent less vibration than standard four-cylinder
engines. An all-aluminum cylinder head and engine block, compact combustion
chamber and maximized consumption efficiency through narrow-angle cylinder
heads and an optimized intake and exhaust system contribute to the outstanding
fuel efficiency and class-leading torque (19.1 kg.m/3,800) of the 2.0-liter
version of the L6 Magnus.
Products that are eligible for the Technology
Frontier Award are grouped into three categories: large, medium and small
enterprises. A board of
judges comprised of industry and academic professionals selects winners
in each category.
