Opel's sustainable mobility strategy is again recognized
Opel is the only automaker to be listed with three vehicles in the VCD (Verkehrsclub
Deutschland – German Traffic Club) Environment List. In Sweden Opel's
natural gas vehicles were also given an outstanding rating by the Swedish Association
of Green Motorists "Gröna Bilister" in their annual market overview.
Opel is the only automaker to be listed with three vehicles in the
VCD (Verkehrsclub Deutschland – German Traffic Club) Environment
List, published annually to provide consumers with a guideline for pro-environmental
cars.
The club ranked the Corsa ECO with 1.0 TWINPORT ECOTEC engine and
Easytronic transmission third, the monovalent CNG (Compressed Natural
Gas) powered
Astra Caravan station wagon 1.6 CNG eighth and the Corsa 1.0 TWINPORT
with five-speed manual transmission tenth.
Opel's expertise in ecological
powertrains is also recognized in the individual VCD ranking: the Astra
station wagon 1.6 CNG comes
second in family cars, while the natural gas powered Zafira takes victory
in the van segment, followed by the Zafira with 1.6 ECOTEC gasoline engine
in third place. More than 300 current car models were tested for their
environmental compatibility by the VCD.
Opel's natural gas vehicles were also given an outstanding rating
by the Swedish Association of Green Motorists "Gröna Bilister" in
their annual market overview.
The Swedes elected the Astra station wagon
1.6 CNG most environmentally compatible vehicle overall. The Astra station
wagon also took the gold
medal in the mid-size car category, as did the Zafira 1.6 CNG in the
van segment. "Gröna Bilister" has been evaluating cars
on an annual basis since 1994. Emissions such as hydrocarbon, nitrogen
oxide and carbon dioxide, as well as noise level, are tested and assessed
according to their effect on the environment.
