New Tigra TwinTop: Sporty Cabrio-Coupé for all seasons
With the new Tigra TwinTop, Opel/Vauxhall debuts a sporty two-seater
with an electro-hydraulic retractable steel roof. Its dynamic, exciting
design promises pure driving pleasure and the touch of a button transforms
the Tigra from a coupé into a convertible in just around 18 seconds.
In contrast to previous roof systems that required roof parts to be laid
on top of each other, taking up a lot of space in the trunk and creating
a "plump" rear end, the Tigra's engineers were able
to develop a roof system with space-saving folding kinematics. This intelligent
roof technology enabled the designers to create a harmonious and dynamic
design from the front right up to the striking rear end.
This state-of-the-art
roof design is also the key to the Tigra's
best-in-class storage space of more than 500 liters -- 440 liters in
the trunk and an additional 70 liters in a compartment right behind the
seats. But even when the top is down, the two-seater still offers 250
liters of luggage capacity -- plus the 70 liter space behind the seats,
which is accessible from the passenger compartment.
The Tigra TwinTop's
interior matches its sporty character with standard height-adjustable
sport seats, chrome-ringed instruments as
well as numerous applications in matt chrome.
Driver and passenger benefit
from superb ergonomics and extensive standard equipment. In addition
to the electro-hydraulic retractable steel roof
all Tigra TwinTop versions feature power windows, electrically adjustable
and heated mirrors and remote-controlled central locking. The sporty
Cabrio-Coupé also boasts extensive standard safety equipment:
two front and two side airbags, ESP, ABS, disk brakes all around and
brake assistant provide a high level of passive and active safety.
The
Tigra TwinTop, which is manufactured in Cerizay, Western France, by renowned
coachbuilder Heuliez, will be available at dealerships in
September. Two modern ECOTEC gasoline engines ensure lively and economical
performance: a 1.4-liter TWINPORT unit (66 kW/90 hp) and the 92 kW/125
hp 1.8-liter engine.
