Vauxhall is number one! Company tops UK sales chart for August

Figures for August show that Vauxhall’s total car sales were 13,328, representing a market share of 15.7% and meaning that Vauxhall overtook its main competitor to be the best selling brand in the UK. It’s the first time the company has held first place in the market since February 2000. Moreover, it’s the first time ever that Vauxhall has beaten Ford on combined car and van sales – with a total of 15,046 (14.6%), followed by Ford with 13,883 units and 13.4%.

The results include particular achievements for Astra, Corsa and Zafira - which lead their classes. From the new Astra, for which there are already 28,000 sold orders in the UK alone, to the VXR220 and Monaro VXR customers are tuning into Vauxhall’s commitment to driving excitement, style and design.

It’s no coincidence that the company is so single-mindedly promoting these qualities, since they are the most significant factors in the decision making process for car buyers under the age of 35. Amongst all drivers Vauxhall is already recognised for the important criteria of value for money and reliability.

Major sales increases for Saab and Daewoo completed the celebrations. Saab’s registrations climbed 91.3% to boost their share to 0.6% overall. Saab’s 9-3 convertible outsold both the BMW 3 series and the Audi A4 cabrio ranges. Daewoo grew from 0.5% to 0.7%.

Vauxhall vans are also continuing to win big contracts from traditional rivals, latest wins including BT. Overall Vauxhall’s van range held second place in August with 12.1% share.
