Corvette Z06, Corvette C6-R and Cadillac STS-V unveiled

One for the track, two for the road: The new Corvette Z06, the Cadillac performance model STS-V and the new Corvette racer C6-R were unveiled at the Auto Show in Detroit.

Corvette Z06

The Corvette Z06 is the fastest, most powerful car ever offered by General Motors. The Z06 is powered by a new 7.0-liter LS7 small-block V-8 engine, which includes racetrack-bred components. It achieves 500 hp (373 kW) and 657 Nm in a 1420 kg package. The Z06 delivers 0-100 km/h performance in less than 4 seconds and reaches a top speed of more than 300 km/h.

Corvette C6-R

By winning every race in the 2004 season, the Corvette C5-R racing team wrapped up the most successful era in Corvette's 50-year racing history.

The brand-new Corvette C6-R race car will debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 2005 after a full year of rigorous testing and development. The two-car, factory-backed sports car program will compete in the production-based GT1 class (formerly GTS) of American Le Mans Series as well as the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in France.

Cadillac STS-V

The Cadillac STS-V is the most intense expression of Cadillac power and performance yet. Designed for performance enthusiasts, the STS-V delivers supercharged, rear-drive performance with an elegant design statement that is unmistakably Cadillac. At the heart of the STS-V is a new, 4.4L version of the Northstar engine outfitted with a positive displacement intercooled supercharger. The dual overhead cam (DOHC) V-8 engine produces 440 horsepower (328 kW) at 6400 rpm and 583 Nm of torque at 3600.
