Opel and Chevrolet fastest-growing brands in Slovenia
With 6,790 vehicles sold and a market share of 9.79 percent, Opel registered record sales in Slovenia in 2004. In terms of total sales, Opel climbed to the 3rd place in that market.
Opel was especially successful in the passenger-car market: with 486 passenger cars sold, December was the best month ever for Opel (12.44 percent market share in the passenger car market). For the first time in recent history, Opel was the number one brand in the passenger-car market in December. Compared with 2003, (3,797 units sold), Opel marked a 42 percent increase in passenger car sales.
Opel also recorded the best-ever progress in the area of light commercial vehicles. In 2004, 273 new vehicles were registered, representing 131 percent growth compared to 2003. The final LCV market share figure amounts to 3.93 percent (110 percent increase).
Chevrolet also participated in the GM growth with good sales results. Last year, Chevrolet introduced the whole Lacetti family, which became - along with Kalos - the trump card for stimulative sale figures. In 2004, Chevrolet sold 1,642 new vehicles (2.37 percent market share in total and 2.63 percent on the passenger car market), representing 37 percent sales growth compared with 2003.
Last year, the two GM brands were the best in terms of market share growth in Slovenia: Opel is in 1st place, with a 63 percent increase, while Chevrolet came in second, with 44 percent.
