Opel continues test program with Vectra GTS V8

At Opel, preparations for the new season in the DTM are running at full speed. After the newly developed Opel Vectra GTS V8 had completed its maiden outing at the circuit of Vallelunga (Italy) in mid-December, the program continued last week with three days of testing at Jerez (Spain).

At the 4.428 km long former Grand Prix track in the south of Spain, Opel's works-drivers, Laurent Aiello (France), Marcel Fässler (Switzerland), Heinz-Harald Frentzen (Germany) and Manuel Reuter (Germany), were all involved in the test session.

Both the new car for the forthcoming season and the car used in last year's championship were out on the track. The 2004 Vectra GTS V8 was used to test various shock absorbers and complete several start attempts. For the new car, the team concentrated on finding the right suspension set-up. On the final test day, the new car was also integrated into the shock-absorbers testing program. Both cars did long runs as well as single-lap outings.

The test program was completed as planned, without any problems.
