Opel and Vauxhall increase commercial vehicles sales in 2004

The number of Opel and Vauxhall commercial vehicles (CV) sold in Europe increased by 12,500 units to 149,000 in 2004. However, market share in Europe slipped slightly, from 5.6 to 5.4.

Opel and Vauxhall were particularly successful with Vivaro (+ 40 percent compared with the previous year) and Movano (+ 16 percent).

In Germany, Opel increased the market share in the commercial vehicle segment from 4.7 to 6.1 percent, selling a total of 17,500 units. Market share increased for the six consecutive years in that segment.

Vauxhall consolidated its position as number two in the UK market, in particular increasing its share of the retail market. The company had its best retail volume since at least 1994. Vivaro was the star of Vauxhall's line up, outselling its IBC built sister van the Renault Trafic by 2:1.

Beside Vivaro and Movano, Combo as well as Astra and Corsa delivery vans (available only in some European markets) complete the Opel/Vauxhall commercial vehicle line-up.
