Opel Zafira 1.6 CNG wins German “EcoTopTen” Award

The Opel Zafira 1.6 CNG has been named the most environmental and consumer friendly vehicle by a leading German institute. Out of the 18 cars nominated, Zafira was not only the overall winner, but also the only recommended vehicle in the van category. Furthermore, the Astra 1.4 TWINPORT (compact class) and the Astra Caravan 1.6 GNG (family cars) were among the top recommendations.

The “EcoTopTen” is a new award initiated by the Freiburg Ecology Institute in conjunction with the German traffic association Verkehrsclub and supported by the German government. Vehicles are rated by their environmental compatibility and consumer friendliness.

Opel is the leading manufacturer for compressed natural gas vehicles (CNG) with 60 percent market share in Germany. The company currently offers two CNG vehicles: the Zafira 1.6 CNG and the Astra Caravan 1.6 CNG. Soon the range will be extended with the Combo 1.6 CNG.
