Saab reaches four million production milestone

Last Tuesday, at 14.35 hours, the four millionth Saab, a fusion blue 9-3 SportCombi 2.0 Turbo, rolled-off the production line at the plant in Trollhättan, Sweden.

Saab's four millionth production milestone has been reached 55 years and six months after the Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget (Swedish Aircraft Company Limited), also known as 'Saab', produced its first car at the same plant that was used to build aircraft. This car was a small, teardrop-shaped 92 model. It marked the beginning of the company's diversification into the automotive business.

The millionth car, a Saab 99 Combi Coupé, came-off the production line in January 1976, the two millionth, a Saab 9000 Turbo, in March 1987 and the three millionth, a Saab 9-5 sedan, in October 1997. The four million mark has been reached less than eight years later.
