Opel continues its diesel particulate filter initiative by offering all diesel-engined passenger cars in Germany with a particulate filter as from July 1. This makes Opel the volume brand with what is probably the widest range of diesel models featuring a particulate filter and strengthens the company’s expertise in pro-environmental diesel technology.
Opel now offers a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) as standard with all 1.9-liter CDTI versions (100, 120 and 150 hp) in the Astra range, following the Vectra, Signum and new Zafira line-ups. By doing so, the company makes a clear statement in the compact class regarding the diesel discussion and responds to high customer demand -- in Germany, currently more than 80 percent of Astra 1.9 CDTI buyers opt for the particulate filter.
The 2006 editions of the new Vectra and new Signum with the 3.0 V6 CDTI, top-of-the-range diesel engine (184 hp) will also be introduced with this environmentally friendly feature as standard, followed by the 90 hp 1.3-liter CDTI Astra models in November.
Customers in Germany who buy an Agila, Corsa, Combo, Meriva, Astra or Tigra with a 1.3 CDTI (70 and 90 hp) or 1.7 CDTI (100 hp) engine now can have an optional filter retro-fitted by any Opel dealer starting next spring.
