Chevrolet extends its product range
On the Chevrolet stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show visitors can take a closer look at the newest member to the Chevrolet family – the Aveo compact sedan. Furthermore, the Nubira WTCC R+ concept car captures the world of racing in a very visual and powerful way.
Chevrolet Aveo
With the new Aveo, Chevrolet adds another highly competitive model to its product range. The four-door notchback sedan will be available with either a 1.2 or 1.4-litre engine. The main characteristics of the new front-wheel drive model are the new modern design and the unusually spaciousness for a compact class vehicle (length/width/height: 4,310/1,710/1,495 mm). The newcomer is set to reach the European show rooms in spring 2006. In total, the Aveo will be sold in more than 120 countries around the world.
Nubira WTCC R+ Concept Car
The World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) provides the very best in motor racing. Three 270 hp works racing cars from Chevrolet are a permanent fixture on the starting grid and the Nubira WTCC R+ concept car injects some of that racing DNA into the product line-up.
Its appearance has a great deal in common with the sophisticated aerodynamics of the WTCC racers. This is underlined by the deep front bumper with pronounced air inlets, the wider fenders and the sculpted side sills. A rear spoiler and a Venturi-effect rear bumper in combination with the dark-tinted windows and the extra-wide wheels, fitted with performance tires, round off the sporty look of the new station wagon. This appeal consequently continues in the interior with black leather seating and various aluminium applications.
The station wagon study comes with a 1.8-litre engine. A supercharger joins forces with a charged air intercooler to raise the output to 127 kW/172 hp at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 230 Nm at 4,900 rpm. This enables the Nubira station wagon WTCC R+ to touch 100 km/h in about eight seconds and to accelerate to a top speed of over 215 km/h. In addition, firmer bushes and shorter shift travel make gear shifting even faster. Of course, the Nurbira WTCC R+ is equipped with large brakes and fade-resistant brake pads.
