2005 Golden Steering Wheel Award: Opel Zafira is named Best Compact Van

The Opel Zafira wins the 2005 Golden Steering Wheel Award in the compact van category.

Eleven million readers of the popular German weekly newspaper “Bild am Sonntag” voted for the Zafira as their favourite compact van. The contenders in this category were the Mercedes B-Class, the Opel Zafira, the Volkswagen Golf Plus, the Mazda 5 and the Honda FRV. This is already the second time that the Opel Zafira wins this prestigious award.

This year marks the award’s 30th anniversary of the award, and Bild am Sonntag described the compact van class as “perhaps the most competitive starter field” because verdicts in this category are not only based on handling and acceleration: Customer appeal was the decisive factor to get the final vote.
