Motor journalists choose two Opel models as "Top Cars 2006"

Double success for Opel: The new Zafira and the Antara (Gran Turismo Crossover) concept car each won a “Top Cars 2006” award -- making Opel the only brand with winners in two categories.

The head of Opel European marketing, Alain Visser, says: “We are pleased that the jury recognized Opel’s strengths in developing versatile, innovative cars, underlining this by selecting two Opel winners.”

For the first time, around 140 German, Austrian and Swiss motor journalists elected the winners in eight categories from 80 new models. Members of the jury for this prize include leading motor journalists of specialized magazines, dailies and internet portals in the three countries.

The award is not the first prize for these Opel models. The Zafira was awarded with the “Golden Steering Wheel” by readers of the German "Bild am Sonntag" newspaper in early November. A few days later, the Antara GTC was named “Concept Car of the Year” by the British motoring magazine, Autocar.
