Exciting new concept cars revealed at the Detroit Motor Show

Two exciting concept cars have been revealed by Chevrolet and Buick. Furthermore, two new members of Cadillac's Escalade had their world premiere.

Chevrolet presented a concept car that continues the tradition of the mid-60s Camaros. Though only a show car at this point, the Camaro Concept is intended to explore customer reaction to design and engineering elements that might lead to an all-new version of the Camaro.

The long hood, short deck and wide stance of the Camaro Concept leave no doubt that it is a serious performance car. Those looks are backed up by a 400-horsepower aluminum small-block V-8 featuring Active Fuel Management™. This system shuts off cylinders to save fuel when the engine is lightly loaded.

“Millions of people of all ages fell in love with the Camaro for all of the right reasons,” said Ed Welburn, GM Vice President, Global Design. “Camaros were beautiful to look at and offered performance that could rival expensive European GTs. Yet they were practical enough to drive every day and priced within the reach of many new car buyers.”

Like its forebears, the Camaro Concept would be practical enough for everyday use. Its overall size is a comfortable fit for city streets and suburban parking lots, and its back seat provides occasional seating for two adults.

Buick showed the Enclave – a vision of a new luxury crossover vehicle that features the new, youthful spirit at Buick. The Enclave has a taut, athletic stance that complements the cues of Buick’s heritage.

Enclave’s form incorporates subtle yet continuous lines that create visual distinction and cohesion. Dynamic, jewel-look headlamps and taillamps – including headlamps that turn with the front wheels – contribute to the vehicle’s refined appearance.

Inside, a sumptuous, six-passenger environment features a rich looking, two-tone Cocoa-and-Cashmere color scheme, which is accented with wood trim. A large, panoramic skylight extends from the front-row seats to the third-row seating area.

Also celebrating their world premiere are the new Cadillac Escalade ESV and the Escalade EXT, two members of the second-generation Escalade family of luxury SUVs.

Few automotive brands have achieved what Cadillac has in recent years – a complete product renaissance and extreme makeover of dramatic proportions. Now, Cadillac’s renaissance moves into a second – and even more ambitious – phase. Starting with the all-new Escalade family, the second phase of the brand’s renaissance aims to continue Cadillac’s strong momentum with dramatic styling and performance, and a renewed emphasis on luxury.
