GM with two world premieres at London Motor Show
The highlight at GM’s stand at the British International Motor Show (July 20 – 30, 2006) in London is the world premiere of the new Opel/Vauxhall Corsa. Following the same philosophy successfully realized with the Astra and Astra GTC, the distinctively different three and five-door Corsa models are tailor-made for different types of customers. New high-tech features include curve and cornering light, a heated steering wheel – and a host of clever innovations such as the integrated carrier system “Flex-Fix”, which makes its premiere in a production car. There is a choice of three gasoline engines and two common-rail turbo-diesel engines with four-valve technology and displacements of between 1.0 and 1.4 liters, covering an output range of 60 to 90 hp. The Corsa can be ordered now and will available at dealerships as of October 2006.
GM's second world premiere in London is the Saab BioPower Hybrid Concept. The study, showcased in a 9-3 convertible, is the first vehicle to combine fossil-free bioethanol fuel (E100) capability and electric-only propulsion by utilizing the advanced two-mode system. The 2.0-liter turbo BioPower engine develops 260 hp. In addition, Saab presents the new 210-hp 2.3-liter turbo BioPower engine with a maximum torque of 310 Nm. The Saab 9-5 2.3t BioPower model goes on sale in Nordic markets, the U.K. and Ireland later this year, with other European countries to follow.
Other highlights at the GM stand include:
Hummer shows the H2 and H3. These robust and powerful SUVs promise an outstanding performance both on and off-road.
