GM cars awarded at the Moscow International Motor Show

Astra OPC was elected best sports car, Zafira gets the Grand Prix award as the best minivan and Saab 9-5 is awarded for the Aero tradition.

Several GM vehicles received great acknowledgements at the Moscow Motorshow. The Opel Zafira was awarded by the most widely read automotive magazine in Russia. Za Rulem has 3.3 million readers, 40,000 of them participated in the voting for the best car of the year. Opel Zafira was awarded Grand Prix 2006 in the minivan segment mainly because of its prestige, comfort and versatility. Zafira won ahead of Renault Espace and Kia Carnaval.

The Russian Avtomobili magazine announced that the Opel Astra OPC was elected the „Best Sportscar of the Year” ahead of Ford Focus ST, Citroen C4 VTS and Skoda Octavia RS. Altogether 18 different brands were represented in the contest in the category of “hot hatchbacks”. According to the comments of the jury, “the Astra OPC was the unbeatable leader.”

Also Avtomobili gave a special award to the Saab 9-5. The Diploma acknowledges Saab for its great „Aero” tradition.
